Baptiste Episode Two.

Wow, was that intense or what!?

In the second episode we learn who Edward Stratton really is; a client who became obsessed with Natalie, and asked to pay her to "have her all to himself". Natalie refused, and he broke her jaw.

Natalie tells Baptiste that Stratton is working with the Romanian sex traffickers, and sure enough, Stratton sends one of the Romanians to the house boat to abduct Natalie.

Once Baptiste learns that Stratton isn't a concerned uncle after all, he meets with Edward to tell him that he no longer can pursue the case. Stratton steals Julien's car keys and checks the GPS system, where he finds the houseboat address, hence the Romanian man who breaks into the boat.

Constantin, a member of the sex trafficking group is sent to the houseboat for Natalie. He notices a cigarette which is still burning in an ashtray, and realises that she must be at the address. I found myself watching the scene through my separated fingers that were covering my eyes; I felt so scared for the girl.

If you thought that was tense, it gets worse.

We see Natalie take a huge breath, and swim under the water. She wraps herself around the pole in the canal, but gets her foot trapped in the rope and can't free it. I was sat on the edge of my seat willing her to pull her foot out from the entanglement of the rope, but the camera wouldn't pan off her face and we watched her drown. I felt so sorry for her.

Baptiste learns from his ex wife, Clare, that their 19 year old daughter Lucy died of an overdose. Baptiste queries whether this is why he is perhaps so obsessed with Natalie.

Baptiste receives an email from his UK contact, about the murder of Richard Stratton. He recognises the surname as being the same as Edward's, and visits his house in Antwerp, Belgium to investigate. Whilst in the basement he discovers the decapitated head of Richard, surrounded by blue bottle flies.

As tense as this already is, Julien turns and notices Stratton, armed with a gun, standing in the doorway of the cellar.

An hour and a half away in Amsterdam, Julien's wife Celia receives a call on the intercom, about a man coming to check the gas meter. She buzzes him in right away and lets him into the flat. The episode ends with Constantin stepping out of the shadows, and looking up towards the flat.

I almost screamed when the end credits rolled and we were left on such a cliffhanger. Is Julien ok? Why is there a head in the basement? Does Celia live?

Baptiste continues on Sunday, 9pm, BBC1.
